APA Specialty Editing of Doctoral Dissertations,
Theses, and Journal Articles

Writing for psychology is a minefield of confusing rules and standards. And trying to follow the APA manual can be even more daunting.

I can help. I’m an APA editor specializing in the following fields, to name a few:

  • psychology
  • social work
  • marriage and family counseling
  • organizational development & related fields
  • nursing

My work includes assisting graduate students, postdocs, and professors in the above-mentioned areas. I will help ensure that your writing is APA-compliant, thereby increasing the likelihood of a successful defense or acceptance for publication.

These are some of the schools where I’ve worked with students earning advanced degrees, as well as postdocs and professors needing to publish or perish:

• California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP–Alliant)
• Marshall Goldsmith School of Management (MGSM–Alliant)
• John F. Kennedy University (JFK)
• Wright Institute
• California Institute for Integral Studies (CIIS)
• Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (ITP)
• California State East Bay (CSEB)
• Argosy University
• University of San Francisco (USF)
• San Francisco State University (SFSU)
• University of California, Davis (UCD)

I also serve as a supportive coach, helping you stay focused on the task at hand. I myself have completed two graduate programs and know firsthand the rigors of advanced academic study and the stress and insecurities that graduate school can trigger.

My clients include people of wide-ranging ethnic backgrounds, age groups, socioeconomic backgrounds, and sexual orientation. I am fluent in spoken and written Spanish and able to edit manuscripts with a sprinkling of Spanish. I have a strong policy of inclusion of and respect for all people.

Dissertation Content Coaching

For people who are in need of a writing content coach, my colleague Dr. Yvette Flores is here to guide you. She is a psychologist and university professor and has coached many doctoral students on their dissertations. She also sits on various committees for Ph.D. students, primarily in psychology, though she coaches in a variety of fields.

Formatting of Dissertations and Theses

When your dissertation or thesis has been completely edited, the final step is formatting. This includes pagination, margins, alignment of tables, and other computer-related functions such as lining up the table of contents and making sure references are in hanging-indent style. So if you do not want the hassle, you may use the formatting services of my colleague Alison Britton. She is a whiz on the computer and can therefore put the finishing touches on your dissertation or thesis. Working together, Alison and I assure that your final document will pass with flying colors.
